Holy Stone HS200 FPV Drone Review

INTRODUCTION

The Holy Stone HS200 FPV drone holds many similarities to Holy Stone’s previously released HS110. Despite minor differences in design and build, both the HS200 and HS110 are similar in respects to their specs, features, price, and included FPV modes.

With that said, if you are looking for an awesome, beginner-friendly, ready to fly drone, both the HS110 and HS200 models fly exceptionally well. With solid 720p camera resolution and advanced features like return to home, altitude hold mode, and one button take-offs and landing, the HS200 drone exchanges quality and enjoyment for a reasonably low price.

More importantly, the HS200 quadcopter has 4 speed modes so you’ll always find more reason to practice and gradually improve your skills when controlling your drone at top speeds. And with stellar customer service by the Holy Stone name and brand, you can always be assured that your transaction, small or large is taken care of with the utmost professionalism.

The drone’s 2.4GHz transmission further allows for a long 100 to 120 meter transmission range and 50 meter video FPV transmission range, allowing you to take videos from fairly moderate distances. Size & dimensions of the HS200 is identical to that of the HS110, which measures in at a very moderate size – approx. 12.6″ x 12.6″.

Its beautiful red build and body, paired with its dark black propellers and fully equipped LED navigation lights gives this drone plenty of appeal to look forward to. Whether you’re looking to fly your drone during the day or in the night skies, the HS200 will allow you to do just that.

FLYING & FEATURES

Flight difficulty with the HS200 can vary from beginner to expert, depending on the preferred speed mode. Flight on the HS200 can be described as easy to fly, stable, and great handling with moderate wind resistance. With four variable speed modes and features like headless mode, the HS200 is a drone that can be enjoyed by absolutely anybody and has no preferences in regards to your level or quad flying expertise. Here is a full list of features you can expect to enjoy with the HS200 model:

Headless Mode: As one of today’s perfect features and functionalities for beginners, its been great to see Holy Stone making the best use of this widespread and very useful feature. If you’re a beginner or complete newbie to flying drones, make sure to turn this on for your first few flights. Headless Mode will allow you to get a better grasp on the orientation of the quadcopter. More importantly, you won’t actually need to worry about this drone’s orientation, since headless mode intelligently takes care of that for you.

Altitude Hold: As one of my favorite drone flying features at this budget range, the altitude hold will give you a glimpse into what some of today’s more advanced quadcopters are capable of. If you’ve ever wanted to see a drone fly and hover at a set altitude all on its own, then this is an experience and feature most-definitely worth exploring. Included in both the HS200 and HS110 models, it is becoming harder to imagine a drone without this feature today.

FPV (First Person View): For anyone who is really looking into getting into the hobby of flying drones, this is a feature to most definitely look out for and easily my all time favorite. Just make sure your iPhone and Android is well-protected so you can continue to enjoy this full-fledged feature. For those who prefer having eyes in the sky or would like to see exactly what you’re drone is seeing, while being able to shoot and record images and videos to your liking, the FPV, first person view feature is a definite must-have and thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Gravity Sensor Mode: As mentioned in a previous section, the included gravity sensor mode, which we don’t always see included in similar drones allows you to take control of your drone by simple movement of your smartphone. But for starters, we recommend going ahead and using the transmitter for its ease of use and responsiveness. Still a cool feature to try out ever now and then!

One Buttons Take Offs & Landing: Ever wanted to see a drone take off and land on its own? I know I have. The only thing required on your part is the simple push of a button. Otherwise, this feature is a great way to perform perform a more proper and safer technique when it comes to getting your quadcopter safely off & on the ground.

6-Axis Gyroscope: Last but not least, we have a quadcopter with a 6-axis gyroscope allowing for better stability, handling, and even 360-degree flips. Yes, we know you couldn’t wait for that one!

OVERVIEW

The drone’s price, FPV mode & camera, stable nature, and all the included features on the HS200 truly make it a bargain. At this price range, you’ll be hard-pressed to find as good a drone by one of our favorite drone manufacturers of all-time, unless you were to perhaps go with the Parrot Mambo.

Besides its somewhat average 720p camera, we would say that the HS200 drone is above average for its price and the countless features and specs it has to offer.

With a 100+ meter transmission range and features like FPV, gravity sensor, altitude hold, and headless mode, you have more than enough to keep you occupied over the many spring, summer, and fall seasons to come. Last but not least, don’t forget to purchase an extra spare set of batteries if you do decide going with either the HS200 or HS110.
